The best times to watch gold from the UK
- Asian session (overnight UK): usually quieter, with tighter ranges.
- London open (8:00 UK): volume picks up and gold often makes its first real move of the day.
- London and New York overlap (about 13:00 to 16:30 UK): usually the busiest, most volatile window. Big US data (jobs, inflation) often lands at 13:30 UK time.
- Daily break (about 22:00 to 23:00 UK): most platforms pause gold for an hour. Spreads are often wide just before and after.
Clock changes: the UK and US change their clocks on different weekends in March and in October/November. For a week or two, everything US-based happens one hour earlier in UK time. The clock above handles that automatically.
