Prop firm drawdown calculator.

Funded-account challenges fail most often on drawdown rules. Check how close you are to your daily and max loss limits before you place the next trade.

Every prop firm words its rules differently (end-of-day vs live equity, what counts as "today", and so on). Check your firm's own rules page. Estimates for learning. Contract sizes, pip definitions and limits vary by provider, so always check your own platform before you trade.

How it works

Daily vs max drawdown, static vs trailing

  • Max (overall) loss, static: your equity can't drop below a fixed floor. $100,000 at 10% = a floor of $90,000, forever.
  • Max loss, trailing: the floor follows your highest balance. With 6% on $100,000, reaching $105,000 lifts the floor to $99,000. In this calculator it stops rising at the starting balance, which is how most firms do it.
  • Daily loss: a separate limit for each day. 5% of a $100,000 account is $5,000. If today started at $99,000, today's floor is $94,000.

Your real limit is whichever floor is higher. With equity at $97,000 in the example, you have $3,000 of room. With a $5 stop on gold that's at most 6.00 lots ($3,000 ÷ ($5 × 100)), but sizing anywhere near the limit is how most challenges are lost.
